Old cello labeled Ferdinandus Gagliano filius Nicolai fecit Neap. 1781.

A very fine old 4/4 cello labeled Ferdinandus Gagliano filius Nicolai fecit Neap. 1781.
This beautiful old cello is made with a fantastic seasoned, powerful sound! Two pieces back of strongly narrow flamed wood with matched sides. The top of high grained spruce. Golden-amber varnish is very shiny and transparent. New rosewood set up, new Despiau bridge, Pirastro strings. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, sweet and beautiful colors, depth and great carrying power. Suitable for solo and chamber music. Going by the label and type of work I assume this to be a fine italian instrument. Never the less by this assumption it is sold as is.
