A very fine italian 4/4 violin, labeled Ansaldo Poggi da villa fontana fece in Bologna anno 1975 A.P. Stamped A.Poggi to end pin. The violin has an excellent straight high grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of strongly narrow flamed maple. The purfling is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. Rich amber varnish over golden ground shows an amazing wooden choice. The whole length of the violin is 586 mm and the back 357 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 167 mm; middle bouts: 114 mm; lower bouts: 208 mm.
