A very fine old Italian 4/4 violin, labeled Joseph Antonius Rocca fecit Taurini anno Domini 1850 TGR. The violin has an excellent straight medium grained spruce of the top and one piece back of softly flamed maple with matched sides and scroll. Rich golden amber varnish with tears and wears shows an amazing wooden choice. The whole length of the violin is 595 mm and the back 362 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 170 mm; middle bouts: 117 mm; lower bouts: 210 mm.
