Utilizing over 20 years of experience, Alexander Viltman of DaGamba GmbH provides accurate and detailed appraisals of stringed musical instruments from a variety of sources, including private collectors, musicians, and other auction houses. Customers will receive full documentation and provenance to ensure the integrity and value of their piece.

Auctions

Our auctions feature a diverse range of styles and periods, allowing bidders to discover instruments that resonate with their musical preferences and historical interests. Our online platform provides detailed descriptions, high-quality photographs, condition reports, sound samples, and historical context that allows bidders to appreciate the fine details and craftsmanship of each item from the comfort of their homes. Restorations

DaGamba conducts restorations for vintage and modern stringed instruments with over 20 years of experience. These services are provided free of charge if the restoration will greatly improve auction value.

ABOUT

Alexander Viltman

Founder and owner of DaGamba DmbH. His professional history encompasses music performance and instrument restoration. He completed studies in the violin at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. He played first violin with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra Musica Viva, Moscow Soloists, Philharmonic of Nations (Philharmonie der Nationen), and Klassische Philharmonie Bonn. Additionally, he has made radio, television, festival, and public appearances as a soloist across the world.

In 2003, Alexander began working with old stringed instruments, in particular focusing on restoration, valuation, and online sales. He attended workshops and exhibitions in Cremona, Shanghai, London, New York, and Paris, and worked with online auctioneers Tarisio, Sotheby’s, Gardiner Houlgate, Bromptons, Amati, Vichy, Bonhams, Skinner, Chiswick, Babuino, Millon, Dorotheum, and many others.

In 2006, Alexander used his expertise to create DaGamba GmbH. DaGamba GmbH is an internet-based house dedicated to providing fine-stringed instruments, bows, and accessories in an accessible way for players, collectors, teachers, luthiers, and members of the trade.
